Drawing of Manesty Youdale Knot Holiday Caravan

SITUATION

The single caravan occupies an elevated and sheltered position adjacent to a small wood at some distance from Youdale Knot, the proprietor's residence, and enjoys good views across the renowned and beautiful Borrowdale Valley. It is five miles from Keswick at the foot of Catbells and Maiden Moor and within 3/4 mile of the head of Derwentwater.

The whole of the nearby north west margin of Derwentwater consists of woodland and parkland which is owned by the National Trust and which is open to the public, giving delightful opportunities for walking, boating, swimming, fishing, sailing and windsurfing. Immediately to the west of Manesty lie the extensive Derwent fells which offer many varied opportunities for walking and climbing. Day walks from Manesty to Great Gable and Scafell in the heart of the Cumbrian Mountains can be undertaken. A footpath leads from Manesty across the head of the lake to Lodore, where access is readily available to the less well known fells to the east of Borrowdale and to the picturesque Watendlath Valley.

Rowing boats are available for hire at Portinscale and Keswick, motor boats at Keswick, and sailing boats and windsurfers at Portinscale. There are a number of pony trekking centres in the area. There is a regular bus service from Keswick to Seatoller which calls at Lodore and Grange a mile from Manesty and the "Honister Rambler", a circular minibus service, passes Manesty eight times a day. A regular launch service runs from Keswick to Lodore and Brandlehow, both approximately 1 mile from Manesty.

Manesty is situated in the heart of the Lake District and is therefore an ideal centre for touring the Lake District and Cumbria by car. It is easily reached by leaving the M6 at junction 40 near Penrith and following the A66 for 17 miles to Keswick and thence by following secondary roads for five miles (see map on Manesty Holiday Cottages website).
