Contact/Find Us: Without a Car

Why not leave the car at home?  It is straightforward to get to Manesty and around the Lake district via public transport, especially in the summer when a bus will drop you off right at the door.

Penrith, on the West Coast main line is well served by high speed trains.  For example, direct trains from London take just over three hours and from Manchester Airport take two hours.  From Penrith you can hire a car (Practical car hire or Westmorland Vehicle hire) or take the X5 bus the 17 miles to Keswick.  The 78 ‘Borrowdale Rambler’ bus links Keswick with Grange (3/4 mile from Manesty) all year round, and from April to October, Manesty itself is served by the 77A ‘Honister Rambler’ from Keswick.  Alternatively, the Derwentwater launch runs from Keswick to Brandlehow, just a mile from Manesty.

If you are coming to Manesty without a car, we can take delivery of grocery orders prior to your arrival so you don’t have to carry them with you.  Visit the ‘extras’ page of the website for details.
