The Cottages: Manesty Dairy (up to 2 people)

Manesty Dairy is the compact Edwardian extension which was originally built to replace the front dairy.  It was the scene of butter making and ham curing well into the mid 20th century, but is now a cosy hideaway for two.

Suitable for up to 2 people.

On the ground floor there is one double bedroom and the bathroom which has underfloor heating and a shower over the bath.  There is also an enclosed verandah with a sunny sheltered aspect, slate floors and cane table and chairs. The open plan kitchen/living area is upstairs.

The upstairs area was recently refurbished in 2010 and is a fabulous light and airy space. There is generous local green slate worktop space and storage in the kitchen for those who love to cook, and the living area has a comfy sofa and a generous dining table.  The first floor windows look south over the bungalow High Seat, towards the fells at the head of Borrowdale, and east out onto the wooded fell which offers great opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts: previous guests have been delighted by the activity of our resident tawny owl, woodpeckers and red squirrels.

Guests staying in Manesty Dairy are encouraged to take their morning cup of tea outside to the seat on the edge of the trees and enjoy the view over Manesty’s roof tops of the stunning Borrowdale valley, as generations must have done so before.

There is designated space for one car with space for another nearby should you need it.
